Summary
Spring is just about upon us!  Soon you will be thinking about launching your craft and the fun ahead.  There are a few pre-season tips and important information to share. 
  1. All boaters born after January 1, 1978 are required to have completed a Delaware Safe Boating Course and to carry the Certification Card when operating a motorized boat. Courses available:
    1. Delaware on-line courses (www.boat-ed.com) & (www.boaterexam.com)
    2. BoatUS on-line course (https://courses.boatus.org/) Free
  2. Now is a good time to inventory your safety equipment against USCG regulations. Required items for your watercraft can be found at www.uscgboating.org.
  3. Headquartered in South Bethany is the USCG Auxiliary a.k.a. South Bethany Flotilla 12-1. The District Commander will be at the SBPOA Summer Kickoff Party on Saturday, June 10.  There will be a sign-up sheet for complimentary boat inspections and a sign-up sheet to take a Boat Safety Course for an operator's license. There will be a variety of informational materials on boating in Delaware and FREE WHISTLES for those using paddelboards or kayaks when on the water.
  4. Rules for paddleboards and kayaks will be covered next month.
